GDPF and Save the Dells

Two Community Approaches to Preserving the Granite Dells

You may be aware of the Political Action Committee “Save the Dells.” Though both Save the Dells and GDPF are championing the creation and protection of open space in the Dells, we are separate organizations with different goals. Save the Dells was formed with the specific intention of addressing the immediate threat to the heart of the Dells, in the area including and around Point of Rocks (pictured above), by Arizona Eco Development (AED). This is a critically important piece of the Granite Dells and its protection is essential for the integrity of the proposed Regional Park. We are thrilled that the outcome saved a critical portion of the Granite Dells!

Granite Dells Preservation Foundation is a public charity organization, as opposed to a PAC, and therefore our focus is on non-political conservation and education strategies. For example, the foundation seeks to work directly with interested property owners and the City of Prescott to acquire land and conservation easements for inclusion in a Granite Dells Regional Park and Preserve.
